Vintage 9ct Gold and Amber Cabochon Ring.

Measurements: UK ring size L. US size 5.5. Height of front 15mm.

Hallmarks: 'R.Bs', '9', '375', Birmingham, 'X' for 1972. 

Condition: The inside of amber is full of natural inclusions, voids and cracks. Overtime these inclusions make their way to the surface and cause splitting. There is a light split to the surface of the amber in this ring, if you take a look at the last photo you can see it the clearest. It's not so noticeable in person as it follows the natural line of one of the visible inner inclusions. But it is something to bear in mind. The stone itself is still perfectly stable, the split is to the top surface only and does not go through to the back.
